DID Press: Five U.S. F-35 stealth fighter jets have been deployed to Puerto Rico amid escalating tensions with Venezuela, following an order by President Donald Trump. Washington has framed the mission as part of efforts to counter drug cartels in the Caribbean.

The U.S. military confirmed that the aircraft were stationed at its bases in Puerto Rico under Trump’s directive, issued last week, to send 10 F-35s to the region.
While U.S. officials say the deployment is aimed at addressing “increasing drug cartel activity,” analysts view it as a signal of mounting military and political pressure on the Venezuelan government.
Military sources noted that the advanced jets will boost U.S. deterrence capabilities in the Caribbean and send a clear message to Caracas over any potential hostile moves.
