Taliban Dismiss Trump’s Drug Claims as ‘Out of Touch’

DID Press: Afghanistan’s Taliban administration has officially rejected recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the country’s failure to curb narcotics production, calling his statements uninformed and inaccurate.

Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Taliban government, said Trump’s claims reflected “a lack of awareness of the realities in Afghanistan.”

He insisted that narcotics production and trafficking inside Afghanistan had dropped dramatically, “almost to zero,” while data indicated rising smuggling activities in neighboring countries.
