Poll: Majority Skeptical of Doha Summit; Unlikely to Prevent Israeli Aggression

DID Press: The results of a new DID Press poll indicate that most respondents are doubtful about the ability of emergency Islamic–Arab summit in Doha to prevent potential Israeli attacks against Arab and Islamic countries, viewing it more as a political and media gesture than a genuine military deterrent.

According to the poll, only 14 percent of participants believe that holding the emergency summit in Doha can seriously deter Israel from launching attacks on Arab and Islamic states. In contrast, 36 percent said such a meeting might somewhat reduce the likelihood of attacks but cannot be relied upon as a real guarantee of deterrence.

Meanwhile, 7 percent of respondents stressed that the impact of such summits remains largely confined to political and media pressure, without the capacity to generate actual military deterrence. The largest share of respondents—43 percent—said Doha summit would have no effect whatsoever on Israel’s military decisions.

These findings suggest that public opinion about the emergency Islamic–Arab summit in Doha is characterized largely by skepticism and doubt. While many believe such gatherings can project a message of unity and political solidarity, they are seen as lacking the practical or military weight to restrain or alter Israel’s actions.
