Taliban Defense Minister: ISIS Controls No Territory in Afghanistan
DID Press: Afghanistan’s caretaker defense minister, Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, said in an interview with Al Jazeera that the country poses no threat to others and that the Islamic State (ISIS) currently holds no territory in Afghanistan.

Mujahid stated that Afghanistan’s internal security challenges are nearing an end and insisted that ISIS has no control over any part of the country.
Reaffirming the Taliban’s commitment to the Doha Agreement with the United States, he said: “Afghanistan soil under our rule has not been used against any foreign country, and there is no evidence showing that the U.S., its allies, or other states have faced threats originating from Afghanistan during this period.”
He further noted that there are no military agreements between the Taliban’s caretaker government and other countries, including neighboring states, adding that the group’s official policy is to prevent any misuse of Afghanistan territory.
Highlighting ongoing defense initiatives, Mujahid said Taliban forces are undergoing restructuring and professionalization, with hundreds of recruits graduating monthly from military and training centers.
He stressed that the Taliban government currently maintains no military relations with the United States, NATO, Russia, or China, emphasizing that its main focus is on political and economic development and efforts to lift international sanctions against Afghanistan.
