Poll: Majority View Trump’s Bagram Threat as Political Pressure, Not Military Plan
DID Press: Results of the latest DID Press poll show that public opinion is divided regarding Donald Trump’s threat to retake Bagram Airbase. However, most respondents view this stance more as a political pressure tactic and bargaining tool rather than a genuine plan for military action.

According to the results, 37% of participants believe Trump’s remarks are primarily aimed at putting pressure on and gaining concessions from Taliban’s caretaker government. In contrast, 31% consider him to be “completely serious and determined” in following through on his threat.
Additionally, 23% of respondents viewed this stance as merely a political bluff, while 9% believe that the U.S. president is “not serious at all.”
These figures indicate that although a segment of the public considers potential U.S. action plausible, the overall perception is that Trump’s recent threat to retake Bagram Airbase is mainly a tool for exerting pressure on the Taliban government within the realm of political maneuvering, rather than a definitive operational decision.
It seems the proposal to retake Bagram—one of the most important and sensitive U.S. military bases during the occupation—continues to be used as a means of increasing psychological and political pressure on the Taliban, while simultaneously attracting domestic attention in the United States.
