Poll: Taliban Considering Four Options amid US Pressure Over Bagram

DID Press: A new poll by DID Press suggests that Afghanistan’s Taliban caretaker government may pursue one of four approaches in response to growing U.S. pressure to regain control of Bagram Air Base.

According to the poll, 38 percent of respondents believe the Taliban will strongly resist and reject any form of agreement over the base.

In contrast, 21 percent expect the group may allow limited concessions — granting the U.S. partial access or minor privileges without ceding full control of Bagram.

Another 15 percent predict Taliban may opt for political negotiations, potentially trading U.S. access to the base in exchange for broader concessions from Washington.

Meanwhile, 18 percent of those surveyed said the Taliban might gradually hand over Bagram under an internationally brokered agreement.

Analysts say each of these scenarios carries significant implications for Afghanistan’s future and the Taliban’s standing on the global stage.
