Trump Deployed Troops to Portland

DID Press: US President Donald Trump ordered the deployment of military forces to Portland, threatening to use “all available means” to suppress ongoing protests against immigration detention centers — a move that has sparked backlash from Oregon’s governor and Democratic lawmakers.

According to U.S. media reports, Trump announced on Truth Social Saturday that he had authorized the deployment of forces to protect Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities in Portland. He labeled the protesters as “Antifa and domestic terrorists,” adding that he will approve the use of “any and all necessary resources” if required.

Oregon Governor Tina Kotek condemned the move, saying there was “no national security threat in Portland” and calling Trump’s order an “abuse of power.” She also said she is coordinating with the state attorney general to explore legal options to challenge the decision.

Pentagon said it is ready to send personnel to support the Department of Homeland Security once it receives an official order. However, it remains unclear whether Trump intends to deploy the National Guard or regular army units, and what exactly he means by “all available means.”

The protests in Portland have intensified since early June, following repeated attacks on ICE facilities. The Department of Homeland Security recently reported that demonstrators had surrounded one of its detention centers multiple times, while the U.S. Attorney’s Office has filed charges against 26 individuals for arson, assaulting police, and resisting arrest.
