Taliban Shake-up: Sirajuddin Haqqani Reportedly Removed as Interior Minister Amid Internal Rifts

DID Press: Sirajuddin Haqqani, the powerful Taliban figure and acting interior minister, has reportedly been removed from his post and reassigned as governor of Khost province, amid unconfirmed reports of internal tensions and clashes within the group.

According to a letter attributed to Taliban supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada, Haqqani has been dismissed from the Ministry of Interior and replaced by Mawlawi Mohammad Yousuf Wafa, the current governor of Balkh province.

In further reported reshuffling, Sheikh Azizullah Tayeb, a close associate of Akhundzada, has been appointed as the new governor of Balkh.

The developments follow a nationwide internet shutdown and come amid growing speculation of factional infighting within the Taliban leadership. Over the past 24 hours, unverified reports have circulated about internal disputes and possible armed confrontations between rival factions.

As of now, no official confirmation or denial has been issued by the Taliban’s interim government regarding Haqqani’s dismissal or the reported tensions.
