Afghan Science Expo Promotes Iran-Afghanistan Academic Ties
DID Press: In a dedicated meeting between Iran’s Cultural Attaché in Kabul, the scientific and executive secretary of the “Afghan Science Expo,” and the leadership of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, both sides emphasized the importance of expanding scientific, cultural, and academic cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan, highlighting the exhibition as Afghanistan’s first major scientific event.
According to the Afghan Science Expo Secretariat, on Monday, (September 30, 2025), Dr. Sayed Rouhollah Hussaini, Iran’s Cultural Attaché in Kabul, together with Ali Soltani Heravi, the scientific and executive secretary of the Afghan Science Expo, met with Dr. Abdolreza Javan Jafari, President of Ferdowsi International University of Mashhad, and the university’s leadership.
During the meeting, Dr. Jafari emphasized the importance of Iran-Afghanistan academic relations and expressed Ferdowsi University’s readiness for strategic collaborations tailored to Afghanistan’s current needs. He described the Afghan Science Expo as a valuable opportunity to elevate Afghanistan’s scientific and academic standing.
Dr. Hussaini also highlighted the recent developments in Afghan science and technology and called for joint scientific and cultural initiatives between the two countries. He invited Ferdowsi University, referred to as Iran’s “mother university,” to actively participate in the exhibition and stressed the importance of involving reputable Iranian scientific institutions to deepen bilateral cooperation.
Ali Soltani Heravi introduced the Afghan Science Expo as Afghanistan’s first and most significant national and international event in the fields of science, education, technology, innovation, and knowledge-based development. He noted the support of government ministries and private institutions and emphasized that the participation of international academic and scientific organizations, particularly from Iran, will enhance Afghanistan’s scientific standards.
The Afghan Science Expo 2025, under the slogan “Science and Knowledge in Service of Afghan Production and Self-Reliance,” will be held on (October 30, 2025) at the Kabul International Exhibition Center. The event will feature universities, research centers, startups, robotics innovators, and scientific and technological institutions from Afghanistan and around the world.
