Hamas Accepts Trump’s Proposal for Ceasefire in Gaza
DID Press: Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has given a positive response to a proposal by U.S. President Donald Trump to halt the ongoing war in Gaza Strip.

Trump, reposting Hamas’s statement on his social media platforms, wrote: “Based on the statement just issued by Hamas, I believe they are ready for a lasting peace. Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza.”
Hamas confirmed that it had held “extensive consultations” to adopt a “responsible stance” toward Trump’s initiative aimed at ending Israel’s assault on Gaza.
In its statement, the group said it agrees to release all captives — both living and deceased — under Trump’s proposal, on the condition that the move results in a full ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces, and the creation of a framework for prisoner exchange.
Hamas also expressed its readiness to begin immediate negotiations through mediators and reaffirmed its willingness to transfer the administration of Gaza to an “independent Palestinian body” formed by national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic states.
“The issues raised in Trump’s proposal regarding the future of Gaza and the rights of the Palestinian people must be discussed within a comprehensive national Palestinian framework in which Hamas will actively participate,” the statement added.
Trump, in his message, emphasized: “Based on Hamas’s statement, I believe they are ready to achieve lasting peace. Israel must stop bombing of Gaza immediately to enable the safe and swift release of hostages. This is not only about Gaza — it’s about achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.”
However, some analysts have warned that Trump’s peace plan could serve as a political trap that sustains the occupation rather than ending it.
