Pakistan Offers Control of Pasni Port to US Investors
DID Press: Pakistan’s military leadership has proposed that American investors take over the management and development of Pasni Port in Balochistan to facilitate access to the country’s rich mineral resources, reported Financial Times.

Advisers to Army Chief General Asim Munir reportedly presented the plan to U.S. officials, suggesting that American companies be allowed to operate and develop the Arabian Sea port of Pasni to help extract and export critical minerals such as copper, lithium, and rare earth elements.
Under the proposal, the port’s use for military purposes by the United States would be strictly prohibited, while the focus would be on civilian investment — particularly the construction of a railway network linking Pasni to Pakistan’s western mining regions.
Sources familiar with the discussions said the initiative aims to attract U.S. economic support and promote sustainable development in underdeveloped areas of Balochistan, which borders both Afghanistan and Iran.
The move follows a joint meeting between General Munir, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and U.S. President Donald Trump in September, during which Sharif invited US firms to invest in Pakistan’s agriculture, technology, energy, and mining sectors.
