Suhail Shaheen Urges India to Recognize Taliban Government
DID Press: Suhail Shaheen, Taliban government’s ambassador in Qatar, has called for formal recognition of the Taliban administration by Indian government, emphasizing that establishing normal relations between the two countries would benefit both nations.

Referring to recent visit of Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi to New Delhi, Shaheen said the trip marks the beginning of a new chapter in Afghanistan–India relations.
He stressed that recognition of the Taliban government will facilitate normalized relations and expand cooperation between the two countries, adding that the Taliban seeks balanced and friendly ties with India.
Shaheen also assured that Afghanistan territory will not be used against any country, including India.
Responding to U.S. President Donald Trump’s comments regarding Bagram Air Base, Shaheen said the Taliban holds no hostility toward any country or coalition, describing the remarks as a “misunderstanding.”
The recent visit by Muttaqi to India has drawn significant attention. Analysts believe the Taliban’s outreach aims to strengthen regional ties and advance broader recognition, although concerns remain among neighboring countries about terrorist movements and potential Western interference in Afghanistan affairs.
