Pakistan Uses ‘Decisive Firepower’ Near Afghanistan Border
DID Press: Pakistan’s military said it has used “decisive firepower” in Ghulam Khan area of North Waziristan in response to movements by what it described as “militant elements” across the border with Afghanistan — a move seen as a sign of escalating tensions between Islamabad and Kabul.

In a statement issued on Saturday, October 11, Pakistani Army’s media wing said its forces “responded effectively” to activities along the fenced section of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Ghulam Khan region.
According to the statement, the army employed “decisive firepower” to prevent infiltration and armed activity from the Afghan side, calling the operation an act of self-defense aimed at protecting Pakistan’s territorial security.
Ghulam Khan, one of the key commercial and military crossings on the Afghanistan border, has seen a surge in attacks in recent years by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Islamabad has repeatedly accused Kabul of allowing TTP members to operate from Afghanistan territory — an allegation the Taliban authorities deny.
The army’s use of the term “decisive firepower” marks a sharper tone and signals the possibility of expanded cross-border operations. The move comes amid deteriorating relations between the two neighbors, strained by border clashes, security tensions, and disputes over Afghanistani refugees in Pakistan.
Analysts warn that continued clashes may further destabilize border regions and hinder economic and security cooperation between Islamabad and Kabul.
