India Rapprochement Threaten Regional Security, Pakistan Warns Taliban

DID Press: Pakistani officials have expressed concern over strengthening Kabul-New Delhi relations, warning that Taliban’s growing closeness to India poses new challenges to regional security.

The reaction follows the official visit of Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s acting foreign minister, to New Delhi, where he met with Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar. Pakistani officials described the development as “worrying and potentially destabilizing” for the region.

According to official sources, India has decided to upgrade its technical office in Kabul to a full embassy, while Afghanistan plans to send accredited diplomats to New Delhi in return.

Islamabad has characterized these moves as a “concerning shift in regional dynamics” that may alter the balance of influence in South Asia.

Pakistani security officials have warned that closer ties between the Taliban and India can expand India’s influence along Afghanistan’s eastern borders, potentially undermining Pakistan’s geopolitical position in the region.
