DID Press: Despite earlier statements by the Israeli PM that neither Hamas nor the Palestinian Authority would be allowed to play any role in Gaza after the war, Times of Israel has reported the rapid return of Hamas security forces to the streets of Gaza and their deployment in areas vacated by the Israeli army.

Only hours after the ceasefire came into effect, reports indicate that Hamas’s internal security forces have reappeared on the streets and roads of the Gaza Strip.
According to Times of Israel, these forces have reestablished control over neighborhoods and positions recently abandoned by Israeli troops — a development the newspaper described as evidence of a reality that “Tel Aviv cannot ignore: no force other than Hamas is capable of governing Gaza.”
Following statements issued by Hamas’s police and interior ministry, security units reportedly spread quickly throughout the territory, taking full control of areas from which the Israeli military had withdrawn.
The newspaper added that Hamas’s presence has now extended up to the lines of the Israeli army’s pullback, underscoring the group’s continued dominance and organizational control in the enclave.
