India, Afghanistan to Launch Direct Flights Linking Amritsar With Kabul and Kandahar
DID Press: In a move aimed at strengthening regional and economic ties, Afghanistan’s Taliban-led government has announced plans to open direct flights between India’s Amritsar and Afghanistan’s Kabul and Kandahar cities.

Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi made the announcement during a meeting with business representatives in New Delhi, saying the new route would be launched soon to enhance trade and connectivity between the two nations.
India’s Babushahi news outlet reported Tuesday that the initiative has been welcomed by Indian lawmaker Vikramjit Singh Sahney, who described it as a “historic milestone” in bilateral trade relations.
“Safe, direct flights between Amritsar and Afghanistan will create new opportunities for farmers, traders, and small and medium enterprises,” Sahney said, adding that the air link will boost exports of agricultural products, dried fruits, fresh products, handicrafts, and locally made pharmaceuticals — further strengthening economic and human connections between the two countries.
