Balochistan Minister Urges Pakistan to Begin Talks with Ahmad Massoud
DID Press: Amid rising border tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban government, Information Minister of Balochistan, Jaan Achakzai, has called for direct talks between Islamabad and Ahmad Massoud, leader of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan.

In a statement on his official page, Achakzai wrote: “Time for Pakistan to engage in dialogue with Ahmad Massoud to understand his vision for Afghanistan’s future, particularly regarding post-Taliban relations with Pakistan, regional stability, and counterterrorism.”
He emphasized that Pakistan now has a strategic opportunity to support Massoud’s movement and should use it to redefine its regional policy.
According to Achakzai, National Resistance Front’s operational base could be moved from Panjshir province to areas closer to Durand Line, allowing it to play a more active role in regional security.
The minister also voiced support for a decentralized governance model in Afghanistan, saying that an inclusive, regionally participatory government in Afghanistan would be the best path toward lasting peace with neighboring countries.
Achakzai’s remarks come as Pakistan-Taliban tensions escalate along the border, while Islamabad appears to be exploring channels to engage with Afghan opposition figures. Recently, Pakistan hosted an informal meeting with several political and civil opposition representatives from Afghanistan. Although the Pakistani government did not have an official role in the meeting, analysts view it as part of a broader effort to increase political pressure on Kabul and open communication channels with alternative Afghanistani actors.
