Afghanistan Boosts Passport Issuance Capacity; Nearly 600,000 Distributed

DID Press: Officials from Afghanistan’s General Directorate of Passports reported a significant increase in the country’s passport issuance capacity, with nearly 600,000 passports recently distributed to applicants.

The directorate announced that by strengthening administrative systems, installing new servers, opening additional centers, and streamlining application procedures, it has been able to substantially expand passport issuance capacity.

According to officials, the time from application to delivery is now shorter, reducing long waiting periods for applicants.

The agency also said it has plans to enhance transparency, combat corruption, and eliminate middlemen in the passport issuance process.

However, some citizens have complained about slow services in the provinces and the limited number of service centers, calling for expanded access nationwide.
