Afghanistan Reports Major Progress on CASA-1000 Electricity Project
DID Press: Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) has reported significant progress on CASA-1000 electricity transmission project in northern, northeastern, and eastern provinces. The project is expected to generate millions of dollars in annual revenue for Afghanistan and will transmit 1,300 megawatts of electricity from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Pakistan.

According to DABS, CASA-1000 facilities in Afghanistan extend 580 kilometers from Sher Khan Bandar in Kunduz to Nangarhar–Torkham, with completion scheduled by the end of (March 2026).
The regional project, while providing sustainable electricity for South Asia, will also create substantial economic opportunities and revenue for Afghanistan. DABS said that project implementation continues with a focus on enhancing infrastructure and preparing the transmission route within the country.
Beyond electricity transmission, CASA-1000 is expected to play a key role in strengthening regional cooperation and promoting sustainable economic development in Afghanistan.
