Pakistani Delegation Heading to Kabul for Border, Trade Issues

DID Press: A high-ranking Pakistani delegation will be in Kabul on Tuesday, 21 October, to hold discussions with Taliban government officials on border management and expansion of bilateral trade cooperation.

The planned visit focuses on implementing a “Single Document System” and improving border control mechanisms. The delegation will hold key consultations with Taliban authorities regarding border management, trade facilitation, and measures to enhance cross-border movement. Several official meetings between the two sides are expected to take place.

This visit follows an immediate ceasefire agreement between Islamabad and Kabul reached in Doha, Qatar, with the mediation of Qatar and Turkey. After the agreement, the Torkham and Chaman crossings were reopened, and Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province was also reopened to commercial traffic on Monday, October 20.

The reopening of these key border points is expected to play a significant role in easing trade exchanges and reducing financial pressure on Afghanistani traders.
