DID Press: Pakistani authorities have launched a major crackdown on the Islamist party Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and its supporters, freezing 95 bank accounts and registered properties linked to the group’s leader, Saad Rizvi, officials said Tuesday.

Azma Bukhari, Punjab province’s information minister, told reporters that authorities have also identified 3,800 additional domestic and international accounts allegedly used to fund TLP. “Anyone involved in financing the party could face terrorism charges,” he added.
Bukhari said TLP’s leadership has been divided into three tiers, and authorities are carrying out widespread arrests and dismantling its network. Police have raided leaders’ homes and seized assets.
The crackdown follows a recent Punjab decision to ban TLP, pending federal approval. The operation is part of broader efforts to control unrest in Lahore and other cities after protests by TLP supporters escalated in recent weeks.
