Afghanistani and Pakistani Traders Lost Millions Due to Border Closure

DID Press: Several days after Doha-mediated ceasefire agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan, border crossings remain closed, which suspended trade activities between the two countries.

Despite the recent agreement, tensions along key trade routes persist. Afghanistani traders reported that prolonged stoppages in imports and exports are severely disrupting supply chains, with perishable goods spoiling at customs.

According to Afghanistan Chambers of Commerce and Investment, continued closures at Torkham, Spin Boldak, and Ghulam Khan crossings are causing significant daily financial losses for traders and transporters.

In Pakistan, business unions have urged the government to reopen borders to prevent further economic stagnation.
