US: Hamas Must be Disarmed, has no Place in Gaza’s Future

DID Press: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Thursday that all parties involved in the Gaza conflict agree Hamas will have no role in the territory’s future and must be completely disarmed.

“We all agree that Hamas cannot have a presence or political role in Gaza’s future,” Rubio said in remarks about developments in the region.

He added that Washington expects the group to be fully disarmed to pave the way for a new order in Gaza.

The U.S. secretary of state also warned that Israel’s continued control over the West Bank has raised concern among many countries and may threaten the Middle East peace process.

Rubio expressed hope that a lasting end to the war will help advance normalization of relations between Israel and more Arab states.
