Germany Refuses to Admit 20 Wounded Gaza Children
DID Press: German government has declined to admit 20 injured children from Gaza Strip for medical treatment, despite several German cities — including Hanover, Bremen, and Frankfurt — expressing readiness to host them. Officials cited “the deteriorating and unclear security situation in Gaza” as the reason for the decision.

Hanover was the first city in northern Germany to offer to receive and treat the children, followed by Bremen, Düsseldorf, Leipzig, Bonn, Frankfurt, and Kiel, which joined the humanitarian initiative.
However, Germany’s Interior Ministry said in a statement that despite some recent positive developments in the conflict, conditions in Gaza remain “highly confusing and unpredictable,” making it impossible to proceed with the plan at this stage.
The decision has drawn criticism from human rights groups and some local officials, who argue that transferring and treating the wounded children in German hospitals is a purely humanitarian act that should not be hindered by political considerations.
Since the start of the war in Gaza, thousands of Palestinian children have been injured in airstrikes while many need urgent specialized care abroad due to lack of medical facilities.
