DID Press: Afghanistan’s national kickboxing team has arrived in Trier, Germany, to compete in the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO) World Championships.

According to sports sources, the championships began on October 26 and will continue until November 1. Afghan athletes started their matches on October 27, competing in the K-1 category against opponents from around the world.
Event organizers report that this year’s competition features over 2,500 athletes from 40 countries, with bouts held across multiple weight classes and styles, including K-1.
“Participating in the World Championships is a great honor for us. Our goal is not just to be present, but to show that Afghan sports are still alive and strong,” said Hamid Jafari, head of Afghanistan’s team, in a brief interview before the start of the competitions.
