Afghanistan Women’s Football Team Scores Historic Win in Morocco

DID Press: Afghanistan Women’s National Football Team, composed of Afghanistani migrants and refugees, achieved a historic milestone by defeating Libya 7–0 in the international tournament “FIFA Women Unite” in Morocco, marking their first-ever win in exile.

The final match of the tournament took place on Saturday night, November 1, in Morocco, where the Afghanistani women delivered an outstanding performance against the Libyan national team. This remarkable victory came after the team had lost its first two matches, against Chad (1–6) and Tunisia (0–4), making the 7–0 win a dramatic turnaround and a statement of resilience.

Sports experts describe this success as a turning point in the revival of Afghanistani women’s football. After the political upheavals in 2021, the team—consisting of both migrant and refugee players—has been striving to raise Afghanistan’s flag once again on the international stage.

The “FIFA Women Unite” tournament aims to support women’s national teams facing challenging circumstances, providing a platform for the Afghanistani players to showcase their talent, determination, and indomitable spirit.

This historic victory over Libya is more than just a sporting result; it symbolizes the resilience, hope, and courage of Afghanistani women who, despite immense difficulties, continue to pursue a brighter future and stronger presence in global sports.
