Iran’s South Khorasan Records $230M Export to Afghanistan
DID Press: Mahirud Customs in South Khorasan province of Iran has recorded over $230 million export items to Afghanistan in the first seven months of the year, making it the top customs point in trade between Iran and Afghanistan. The achievement has been accompanied by a 118% growth in export weight and the development of border infrastructure, strengthening South Khorasan’s share in the Afghanistan markets.

Mahirud Customs in Sarbisheh district of South Khorasanhas claimed the top position among Iran’s customs for exports to Afghanistan by recording more than $230 million export rate during the first seven months of the year. Sayed Mohammadreza Hashemi, governor of South Khorasan, said that over 1,052,000 tons of goods were exported from this province, 97% of which passed through Mahirud border.
The development of border infrastructure, revival of Mahirud–Farah transit route after 14 years of suspension, and the construction of warehouses and processing centers have reduced costs and accelerated exports.
Hossein Koohgard, Director General of South Khorasan Customs, listed cement, tiles and ceramics, saffron, greenhouse products, dried fruits, and light industrial goods as key export items of this province to Afghanistan.
