Iran Summons Afghanistani Migrants to Kafalat Offices

DID Press: Sources familiar with migrant affairs in Iran say a number of Afghanistani nationals residing in the country have received text messages from relevant authorities instructing them to visit “Kafalat Offices” — a move believed to be related to reviewing files of former Afghanistani military personnel and civil servants.

“Rana” Telegram channel, which covers migrant issues, reported that Afghanistani nationals who received a message from the number +98217000141 reading: “Dear citizen, please visit the Foreign Nationals Services, Residence and Employment Office (Kafalat Office) in your area to receive your residency documents,” may send a family member to the office to follow up on their case.

Meanwhile, a migrant-rights activist named Hussaini explained on his personal channel that the message was only sent to a group of Afghanistani nationals who include former military personnel and employees of Afghanistan’s previous government — individuals who had registered at Kafalat offices or the Ministry of Foreign Nationals and Immigrants Affairs in recent months.

Recipients in other provinces can visit Kafalat offices starting next Saturday, while in Tehran, the online appointment system may become active on the same date, he added.

According to Hussaini, the purpose of the invitation is to inform applicants of the results of their residency application reviews and determine their final legal status.
