OIC Calls for Urgent Aid Delivery to Northern Afghanistan
DID Press: Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) urged member states to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to victims of the recent earthquake in northern Afghanistan, which local officials say has left at least 27 dead and more than 700 injured.

Hussain IBrahim Taha, OIC Secretary-General, expressed solidarity with the people of Afghanistan and called on member governments and humanitarian organizations to swiftly dispatch emergency aid to the quake-hit areas.
In a statement issued Monday, the OIC office in Afghanistan has been tasked with assessing the needs of affected communities.
OIC emphasized that its field office, in cooperation with humanitarian agencies and international partners, will work to ensure rapid delivery of assistance and medical services to survivors.
The earthquake struck several northern provinces early Monday, destroying hundreds of homes in addition to causing casualties. Rescue teams continue to search for survivors trapped under the rubble.
