Trump: China Not Gain Access to Advanced AI Chips

DID Press: US President Donald Trump said that American tech giant Nvidia will not be allowed to export its advanced “Blackwell” AI chips to China.

Trump made the remarks during an interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes” and later repeated the position aboard Air Force One during his flight from his Florida residence to Washington on Sunday.

“We are not giving the most advanced chips to anyone except the United States,” Trump said in the interview. Speaking again on his aircraft, he emphasized, “No, we are not giving that chip to others.”

The Blackwell chips are considered among the most advanced semiconductors in the world, designed for large-scale artificial intelligence operations and high-performance computing. Nvidia, the manufacturer, is currently the world’s most valuable company by market capitalization, and AI technology has become a defining element in U.S. economic, energy, and technological strategy.

Meanwhile, U.S. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said at Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Conference that global energy demand will continue to rise. He noted that the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence and increasing demand for computing power will significantly boost energy consumption.

Trump’s announcement comes as U.S.–China rivalry for dominance in advanced technologies and AI intensifies as a central arena of global geopolitical competition.
