Afghanistan’s Deadly Quakes Deepen Humanitarian Crisis
DID Press: A senior Red Cross official warned that recent earthquakes in Afghanistan have further worsened living conditions for millions already struggling under economic collapse and severe drought.

Régis Savioz, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) regional director for Asia-Pacific, said on Wednesday, November 5, that Afghanistan has experienced two devastating earthquakes in less than two months.
“Families woke up in the middle of the night as their homes collapsed, losing everything they owned,” he said, adding that the destruction “adds to the already extreme hardship in the country amid an economic crisis, drought, and a protracted humanitarian emergency.”
