Major Project Begins to Transfer Water to Kabul
DID Press: The state-owned Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Company announced the launch of a major project aimed at providing clean and sustainable drinking water to capital Kabul.

According to the company, the new project will channel water from Panjshir River and Shah-Tūt and Shah-o-Aroos dams to Kabul city as part of a long-term plan to address Kabul’s chronic water shortages.
Company officials said detailed household surveys have begun across both planned and unplanned urban areas of Kabul to ensure a standard and efficient design for the water distribution network.
Engineer Mohammad Anwar Mayar, a survey team leader, said that technical teams are currently conducting field assessments in Char Qala and Darulaman areas.
Ghulam-ur-Rahman Kazim, Chief Executive of the Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Company, said the project was launched under the directive of the Taliban’s Office of the Prime Minister to address Kabul’s water scarcity in a sustainable way.
The capital city has been facing a serious water crisis due to declining groundwater levels and rapid population growth.
