Macron Warns Israel: West Bank Annexation ‘Red Line’ for Europe

DID Press: French President Emmanuel Macron warned on Tuesday that any Israeli plan to annex parts or all of the occupied West Bank would cross a “red line” for Europe and trigger a strong response from the European Union.

Speaking after meeting with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Macron said: “Plans for partial or total annexation, whether legal or practical, represent a red line to which we, together with our European partners, will respond firmly.”

The French president also expressed concern over rising settler violence and the acceleration of settlement construction, warning that these actions had reached “an unprecedented level that threatens the stability of the West Bank and constitutes a clear violation of international law.”

Macron reaffirmed France’s commitment to regional stability and underscored the need to continue efforts toward achieving a two-state solution.
