DID Press: Pakistan’s parliament is set to approve a constitutional amendment granting Field Marshal Asim Munir lifetime judicial immunity, a move analysts say will further entrench the military’s dominance over the country’s political system.

The lower house has passed the amendment, which also expands Munir’s authority across multiple branches of the armed forces.
Additionally, the bill empowers the prime minister to appoint or dismiss top judges and establishes a new Federal Constitutional Court, a move widely seen as curtailing the independence of Pakistan’s judiciary.
