Taliban Trade Minister Visits Iran to Boost Economic Ties
DID Press: Nooruddin Azizi, the Taliban government’s Minister of Industry and Trade, arrived in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province leading an economic delegation. Officials from both countries described the visit as an important step toward expanding trade cooperation, strengthening infrastructure, and increasing economic exchanges between Iran and Afghanistan.

Azizi’s visit aims to explore joint capacities and expand bilateral cooperation in trade, industry, and investment.
Mansour Bijar, Governor of Sistan and Baluchestan, told ISNA that expanding economic collaboration between Iran and Afghanistan can contribute to sustainable development and regional security. He highlighted Sistan and Baluchestan as one of Iran’s main gateways to Afghanistan, noting that the province’s wide-ranging economic and cultural opportunities play a key role in deepening bilateral relations.
Bijar also emphasized the importance of shared cultural, religious, and linguistic ties between the two nations, stating that leveraging these commonalities could boost trade exchanges and attract investment.
Key components of the one-day visit include inspecting economic projects and infrastructure and attending a joint Iran-Afghanistan economic meeting. Officials expect the visit to open new avenues for practical and synergistic cooperation in regional economic development.
