DID Press: Russia expressed concern over escalating tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban-led government and announced its readiness to mediate and help de-escalate the crisis.

Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said at a press briefing on Saturday (November 15) that regional stability is a top priority for Moscow and the international community. She warned that the continuation of the current situation could pose a serious threat to regional security.
Zakharova described Pakistan and the Taliban administration as “important partners of Russia” and emphasized that the only path to lasting peace is through dialogue. She called on both sides to exercise restraint, avoid provocative actions, and continue negotiations.
The announcement comes shortly after Iran offered to mediate between Islamabad and the Taliban government. Iranian Foreign Minister Sayed Abbas Araqchi, in separate phone calls with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, expressed Tehran’s readiness to provide assistance to reduce tensions.
Three rounds of talks between the Taliban government and Pakistan in Istanbul ended without an agreement, with the deadlock heightening concerns among regional countries and international actors.
