Taliban Launches Kabul-Bamyan Road Construction

DID Press: Construction has officially started on a 25-kilometer road segment from Maydan Shahr to Jalrez district in Maidan Wardak province, with a budget of approximately 570 million Afghanis. Taliban government officials describe the project as part of a key trade corridor connecting Kabul and Herat, scheduled for completion within 15 months.

Mawlavi Abdul Karim Fateh, Technical Deputy of the Ministry of Public Works, said at the inauguration ceremony that the route is a major commercial corridor and will be built to high standards under the guidance of the Taliban leadership. He emphasized the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and reconstruction projects across the country.

Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwah, Governor of Maidan Wardak, called the project a “positive step” toward improving transport routes and boosting economic activity. He urged the contractor to ensure work proceeds according to contractual standards, prioritizing quality.

Officials noted that completing this road is expected to significantly facilitate the transport of commercial goods and ease travel for local residents along this corridor.
