Iran Introduces Placement Tests for Migrant Students without Records

DID Press: Officials from Iran’s Supreme Council of Education have announced that migrant students lacking valid academic records can take placement tests to continue their education at higher grade levels.

Two months into the academic year, registration for migrant students continues to face challenges related to identity verification and incomplete documentation.

To address this, the Supreme Council of Education has introduced a new mechanism to support this group.

Mousa-al-Reza Kafash, Deputy Secretary-General of the Council, explained: “Students without valid academic documents are first referred to guardianship offices. After receiving a referral letter and a unique identifier, they will be eligible to take a placement test, which will determine the appropriate grade level for continuing their education.”

Kafash also noted that migrant students can access not only regular schools but also adult education centers, distance learning programs, and virtual schools specifically designed for foreign nationals, even if they are outside Iran.

Sayed Javad Kharashadizada, Director of the Education Regulations Commission of the Supreme Council, emphasized: “No school is allowed to refuse registration of a migrant student once a valid referral letter is provided by the guardianship offices. Administrative action will be taken against any non-compliant school officials.”

These measures are part of Iran’s broader policy to ensure education for all children, Iranian or migrant, even if they lack formal academic records.

“No migrant child should be denied access to education,” he concluded.
