Pakistan, China Boost Counterterrorism Cooperation

DID Press: China’s ambassador, in a meeting with Pakistan’s interior minister, reaffirmed Beijing’s full support for Islamabad and emphasized expanding security cooperation between the two countries.

Pakistani media reported that during the meeting, both sides agreed to strengthen joint efforts in security and counterterrorism.

Tahir Khan, a Pakistani journalist, reported on Monday (Nov. 17) that Jiang Zaidong, China’s ambassador, condemned recent suicide attack in Islamabad and reiterated that China stands firmly with Pakistan.

He added that China will remain by Islamabad’s side even in difficult times, and that security cooperation between the two countries will further expand.

Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan’s interior minister, described the relationship between China and Pakistan as based on mutual trust and respect, noting that China has always supported Pakistan during critical moments.

The meeting comes as Pakistan has witnessed several deadly attacks in recent days, including a suicide bombing in Islamabad and an assault on a military training center in South Waziristan. Islamabad has blamed the Taliban and India for these attacks.
