Iran Launches E-Passport, License Services for Afghans
DID Press: Iran’s Razavi Khorasan province has launched two new processes for Afghanistan nationals: converting handwritten passports into electronic ones and issuing driving licenses to Afghanistan nationals holding Amayesh cards, a senior provincial official said.

Sayed Jafar Sayedabadi, head of the provincial office for foreign nationals, said more than 120,000 Afghans have registered under the Amayesh-19 scheme so far. Registration will remain open until late November.
He said around 20,000 Afghans in the province still hold family passports, some of which remain handwritten. Relevant forms are now being submitted via kefalat offices to the Afghanistan consulate in Mashhad for issuance of electronic passports.
The official added that Afghans with Amayesh cards can now apply for driving licenses under new regulations coordinated with Iranian police and the Interior Ministry.
