Pakistan Army Kills 15 TTP Militants, Including Commander

DID Press: Pakistan’s army announced that 15 members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), including a commander named Alam Mehsud, were killed in two intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

In a statement issued Tuesday, November 18, the army said the operations were conducted on November 14–15 targeting members of a group the government refers to as the “Fitna Khwarij,” affiliated with the TTP.

According to the statement, the first operation took place in the Kalachi area of Dera Ismail Khan, where 10 militants, including commander Alam Mehsud, were killed. The second operation took place in the Dattakhel area of North Waziristan, resulting in the deaths of five more TTP members.

The army emphasized that clearance operations are ongoing to identify and neutralize all members of the group.

It also said that the counterterrorism campaign by security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue until the “foreign-supported terrorism threat” is completely eliminated.

Pakistan has experienced a surge in terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan in recent months. The escalation followed the TTP’s announcement in November 2022 ending a ceasefire with the government, declaring security forces, police, and government officials as targets.
