Islamabad Urges Taliban to Act “Responsibly” against Terrorism
DID Press: Pakistan’s FM Ishaq Dar has once again called on the Taliban authorities to take concrete steps to eliminate terrorism emanating from Afghanistan soil, stressing that stability in Afghanistan is vital for the security of Pakistan and the wider region.

Speaking Friday at a conference in Brussels, Dar referred to the recent surge in insecurity and militant attacks inside Pakistan and urged the Taliban to honor their counterterrorism commitments. He said Islamabad seeks “a peaceful, stable and friendly Afghanistan,” and emphasized the need for the Taliban government to take “specific, credible actions” to curb terrorism.
Support for Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) by elements within the Taliban administration has become the main point of friction between Kabul and Islamabad. Pakistan maintains that TTP militants plan and launch attacks from inside Afghanistan.
In recent weeks, Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Taliban to prevent militant groups from using Afghanistan territory to threaten its security. The Taliban, however, deny TTP’s presence in Afghanistan and refuse to accept any obligation to restrain the group.
Dar’s latest remarks signal an escalation in diplomatic pressure from Islamabad as security threats rise along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border.
