Trump Ally to Resign from Congress after Public Rift

DID Press: Marjorie Taylor Greene, Republican Congresswoman from Georgia and longtime staunch ally of President Donald Trump, announced she will resign from the U.S. Congress on January 5, 2026. The decision comes after a public clash with Trump.

Once considered one of the most prominent figures of the “MAGA” movement, Greene posted a video message on social media saying: “I don’t want to hope like a battered woman that things will get better. I’ve decided to step aside.”

She added that she does not want her district to be caught up in a painful and divisive primary election, especially after Trump had threatened to support a challenger to unseat her.

Trump, in response, told ABC News that Greene’s resignation is “good news for the country.” Relations between the two had soured in recent months after Greene repeatedly called for the full release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, a request Trump opposed.

In her resignation statement, Greene said: “Standing with women who were abused and trafficked as teenagers should not make the president I defended call me a ‘traitor.’”

In recent months, Greene had appeared on various news programs criticizing Trump’s economic policies and tariffs, emphasizing that the government must do more to reduce the cost of living for Americans.

She concluded by saying she will continue her political efforts through other avenues.
