Pakistan Signals Readiness to Join International Gaza Force

DID Press: Government of Pakistan has expressed willingness to contribute troops to the proposed International Stabilization Force (ISF) for Gaza — provided its mandate is limited to peacekeeping and humanitarian stabilization, without any involvement in disarming Hamas.

At a press conference, Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s FM (and Deputy PM), said Islamabad supports deployment under a clear, internationally agreed mandate. He emphasized that Pakistan’s soldiers would only engage in peace‑keeping and not “peace enforcement or disarmament” operations.

Officials noted that the country’s decision will hinge on a finalized “terms of reference (TOR)” for the mission. Only after those details are clarified will Islamabad make a formal commitment.

Pakistan points to its longstanding experience in UN and multinational peacekeeping missions as a reason it could play a constructive role. Yet, analysts warn that domestic public opinion — strongly sympathetic to the Palestinian cause — may react negatively if the ISF’s mandate is perceived as contrary to the interests of Palestinians or involves cooperation with Israel.
