Iran, Balkh Sign Deal to Boost Medicine Production in Northern Afghanistan
DID Press: A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Balkh Chamber of Industry and Commerce and several Iranian pharmaceutical companies to strengthen the medicine market in northern Afghanistan through joint production and imports.

The agreement aims to expand drug manufacturing and supply in Afghanistan. Haroon Rashid Qazi, acting head of Balkh Chamber of Industry and Commerce, said the partnership represents an important step toward pharmaceutical self-sufficiency in northern Afghanistan.
Iranian pharmaceutical firms have pledged to supply high-quality, affordable products to the Balkh market and cooperate on technology transfer and joint drug production.
Seddiq Mohammadi, head of the Balkh Pharmacists’ Union, welcomed the agreement as a positive move to improve healthcare services, saying it can meet the medical needs of Balkh and neighboring provinces.
The MoU comes at a critical time, as Afghanistan continues to face severe challenges in securing adequate medicine supplies, and is expected to help strengthen the country’s health infrastructure.
