Int’l Bodies Urge Safe Health Access for Afghanistan Women

DID Press: On occasion of “Orange the World” marking the start of the annual 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence on November 25 — the European Union reaffirmed its support for health services in Afghanistan. The initiative aims to ensure that women, girls, and mothers can access essential care amid current challenges. Part of this support includes training women to work in medical professions.

In parallel, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), with funding from the EU, is implementing programs with a human-rights, gender, and health-focused approach. These initiatives concentrate on the prevention, treatment, and care of HIV among people who use drugs and aim to reduce stigmatization, discrimination, and violence against vulnerable groups.

International organizations emphasize the need to provide safe, accessible, and violence-free healthcare services for all citizens of Afghanistan.
