Thousands Protest in Bulgaria, Demanding Government Resignation
DID Press: Tens of thousands of Bulgarians took to the streets of Sofia and other cities to protest corruption and the proposed national budget for 2026, demanding the resignation of the government.

The demonstrations, continuing a wave of recent street protests, saw crowds gather in front of the parliament and offices of several political parties. Police used tear gas to disperse some protesters, and reports indicate that offices of certain parties were attacked.
Bulgarian President Rumen Radev called for an end to the violence and urged the government to resign.
The protests come as Bulgaria prepares to join the Eurozone at the start of 2026, marking the first time the country’s finances will be calculated in euros — a change that could add further economic and social challenges.
