UNAMA: 1.5M Afghans Live with Disabilities, Children Most Vulnerable
DID Press: On the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) reported that approximately 1.5 million Afghans live with significant disabilities. A large portion of these disabilities are the result of decades of war and conflict.

UNAMA highlighted that children bear a disproportionate share of this burden. On this international observance, the mission emphasized the urgent need to build an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable Afghanistan for all citizens.
