Vitamin C Shields Lungs from Harmful Air Pollution

DID Press: Recent research shows that vitamin C can effectively protect lung cells against damage caused by air pollution and fine particulate matter.

According to these studies, this powerful antioxidant can significantly reduce inflammation and cellular damage resulting from daily exposure to particles smaller than 2.5 microns—considered among the most harmful urban air pollutants.

Researchers explain that vitamin C helps lung cells resist the destructive effects of pollution by neutralizing free radicals and reducing inflammatory processes.

They note that this finding could be particularly important for millions of people living in large cities and industrial areas, where constant exposure to air pollution is a major factor in respiratory diseases and decreased lung function.
