Doha Forum 2025 Opens: Afghanistan and Gaza Take Center Stage
DID Press: The annual Doha Forum kicked off today (Saturday, December 6) in Qatar’s capital, hosting representatives from over 160 countries, including a delegate from the Taliban government. The event, running until December 8, is held under the theme “Justice in Action: Beyond Promise to Progress.” Afghanistan and Gaza are central to the agenda.

On the second day, discussions will focus on Afghanistan’s development through regional connectivity, with speakers including Abdulhai Qanet, head of the Strategic Studies Center at the Taliban’s Foreign Ministry, and representatives from Uzbekistan and Georgetown University Qatar.
Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani emphasized ongoing mediation efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, amid continued Israeli airstrikes.
Other agenda topics include the Ukraine war, Middle East developments, Iran-Israel tensions, and global trade issues. The Doha Forum brings together political, economic, and academic leaders to discuss global challenges and strategies for international cooperation.
